1. Englishindependent special investigation team; independent special prosecutor: a temporary investigative body, organized at the request of the congress, which has independent authority and is in charge of investigating a charge of corruption or illegality of a high-ranking official: Or a prosecutor who is in charge of such an investigation.

   국회의 요청으로 구성되어 독자적인 권한을 가지고 고위 공직자의 비리나 위법 혐의에 대하여 수사하는 임시 수사 기구. 또는 그 수사를 맡은 검사.

   • 법원은 특별 검사를 지정하여 뇌물 수수 혐의에 관한 재수사를 시작하였다.
   • 국회는 특별 검사를 실시하여 전 대통령의 비리를 낱낱이 밝혀 달라고 요청했다.
