1. Englishconning tower: A high tower equipped with a facility for oversight and command in a warship or air base; or a person who commands the army in such a place.

   군함이나 항공 기지에서 잘 보고 지휘할 수 있도록 시설을 갖춘 탑 모양의 높은 곳. 또는 그곳에서 지휘하는 사람.

   • 장군은 사령탑에 올라 망원경으로 적군의 움직임을 살피며 전투 준비를 지시했다.
   • 박 함장은 어떤 위기 상황에서도 침착하게 대원들을 이끄는 훌륭한 사령탑이었다.
   • 기지의 사령탑.

2. Englishleader; commander: A position in which a person is ultimately responsible for ordering a military action or command.

   작전이나 명령을 내리는 총 책임자의 자리.

   • 김 감독이 올림픽 국가대표 팀의 농구 사령탑을 맡는다.
   • 최 팀장은 잇따른 광고 실패로 홍보 팀 사령탑에서 물러나야 했다.
   • 구단 사령탑.
